Music to My Ears

Music to My Ears
Listening to music is one of my favorite hobbies and it’s been in my life since I was a child. According to the dictionary's definition*, music is "a pattern of sounds made by musical instruments, singing or computers, or a combination of these, intended to give pleasure to people listening to it". In my opinion, it is more than that... It can be the soundtrack of a life.
To begin with, has any song ever remind you of a special occasion or someone you haven't seen for a while? I think that’s the reason why I'm keen on songs from the nineties. They usually make me feel nostalgic about family and friends; in addition, they remind me of my childhood and teen ages. Nirvana used to be my favorite band when I was younger. It's funny because it’s been almost twenty years since they released "Smells like Teen Spirit" and it seems as if it was yesterday! Time really does fly.
Next, music can also be useful for exercising. Recently, I've been trying to go jogging everyday to keep in shape which is not easy. In order to do it, I always carry my MP3 player full of pop rock songs to make me feel in the mood for running. That's my exercising time soundtrack. If jogging takes your fancy, I can strongly recommend Green Day, The Hives and Foo Fighters as your running soundtrack. Their songs can help a lot.
Finally, some people say that music may be therapeutic. I completely agree with them because the advantages of listening music are not only about how happy, relaxed and ready for exercising it makes you feel, but also there is no side effects of it. If it reminds you of good times and makes you pleased, just enjoy it. Sounds good, doesn't it?
